MEATGUN (Demo Version)
The top-down roguelike shooter where your ammunition is edible.
>> Controls:
- WASD - Move
- Left Click - Shoot
- Right Click (Hold) - Consume Ammo (Heal)
- R - Reload
- E- Interact
- P - Pause
- (Bonus tip: You can hover over the items in your inventory when the game is paused to see the item descriptions)
>> Live, Die, Repeat
- This game is a roguelike dungeon crawler, meaning each time you die, you're sent back to the beginning of the game, and each time you're sent back to the beginning, the game changes. The rooms, the enemies, and the items you get are all randomly chosen each time you play, which makes each run a unique experience.
>> Meat Guns
- As the name of the game suggests, the player is armed with guns that shoot meat. There are 4 guns to choose from, ranging from a pistol that shoots chicken nuggets to a sniper rifle that shoots sausages. However, the ammo serves a different purpose; because the ammo is meat, you can also eat it to recover health. To succeed, you must use your ammo wisely for both damage and healing.
>> GMO Gone Wrong
- As the result of an experiment gone wrong, giant, sentient, radioactive vegetables have taken over The Facility. Your job as a Military Edible-Operations Assault Trooper (M.E.A.T.) is to venture into the research facility and wipe out the menace inside. You will fight broccoli, pea-pods, brussel sprouts and tomatoes, all armed with varying types of guns and explosives.
>> Upgrade Your Arsenal
- Of course, your meat gun will not be the only weapon you have. Inside the Facility, you will find a food item in each room, each one an experimental weapon designed by the Facility's scientists. There are over 30 unique items with differing effects, from hot sauce that burns your enemies to takeout boxes that increase your ammo capacity. You can even get multiple stacks of each item for a more powerful effect.

I don't even need to move for the Reapers anymore... Tomatoes are hitting me for 30, but I heal back to full instantly:D
Might want to cap Chocolate coin income per room or something... I can get several hundred dollars per second standing in pepper flame pools, and with oven mitts and health recovery bonuses I maintain my health:D
For some reason, after hitting around 180-200 max health, it started dropping to about a 3/4 max whenever I get an upgrade as well.
Edit: 2 bosses later and it died in 4.22s by just pushing it back to the wall with rapid fire shotgun:D
Nice! I love seeing how broken runs can get later on. Thanks for the feedback, though I think the coin thing is okay as it is since it only gets overpowered late-game (where everything is overpowered lol). I will check on the Max Health issues. Again, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed! :D
Hey really cool game!
Maybe I'm just a noob, but I found it super hard! I tried the sniper and the shotgun, but I couldn't survive for more than a minute
Yeah, the game can be hard, especially when starting out! I've seen people get really long runs though, so it seems balanced. If you're having a hard time, I would suggest maybe using the pistol, since it has the most starting ammo and therefore the best healing. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
I'd like a way to get a reminder of what the power-ups do that I have in my inventory.
You can hover over them with your mouse while paused, I guess I don't really explain that anywhere, sorry
Shotgun seems way underpowered. Chilis are still present after beating the boss with no way to kill them. I think putting your cursor over the upgrade should show what it does.
Other than that, I love this game. Really fun and excited to see it expanded.
Thanks for the feedback! You can actually hover over the items when the game is paused, I should've explained that somewhere. I'm happy you enjoyed!
Chicken has become minigun
lmao nice you got far enough that the shop cost displays are running onto the next line
Tragic a Tomato ended my run. It spawned right on me and oneshot me from 160.
Some final words, maybe make end game a bit harder/more variety? Besides random tomato oneshot, all other enemies were a bit too easy. Surely there could be a way to scale them besides only increasing their damage. Maybe spawning more than 4 in the later levels or minibosses?
And maybe implement other kinds of rooms like something that can give you money if you answer a question or something that can give you two upgrades if you pass a minigame and a curse if you fail.
I believe character % increasing is bugged. Health was 160 because of the 3x steak but it should have also included each of the 5% from boss 9 items I had.
Also Pistol OP, I could just heal up to full shooting a clip of my magazine. I wish there were more upgrades but the game literally just released so I'm not expecting anything.
Really fun! I enjoyed it a lot. These are really minor nit picks and suggestions for the future because I don't really have anything I hate about the game. I hope it becomes popular! 10/10
Yeah, late game is pretty underdeveloped, but I was expecting that. The content in the game right now is comparable to one floor in Gungeon or Hades I think, so I would add extra floors after the boss with new harder enemies and more rooms but that’ll probably be a while off, since I won’t have much time to work on it during the school year.
It’s strange to see the boss item not working, I thought I fixed it but I guess I’ll check on it again. Again, thanks for your input.
